Ben Scheres leaves Utrecht University

September, 2011

NPC theme leader Ben Scheres will be leaving Utrecht for Wageningen in the autumn of 2012. Scheres won the Spinoza Prize in 2006 for his contribution to the study of plant development. Scheres points out that there are several scientists active in research in Wageningen in the field that he aims to focus on. “The best place for my research is Wageningen. If you look at the plans for thematisation within Dutch universities, that’s where the biggest opportunities lie for me. What we want to be able to understand is the blueprint of the entire plant and that’s the best place for me to do that. Besides, after 20 years in Utrecht, I need a change.” Scheres will be taking several staff members with him to Wageningen.
